Do you follow along any online book clubs? If so, there are some great book club picks that are also kindle book deals today!
I have found that I connect the most with the Read With Jenna book recommendations. Her book picks are often a little out of my reading comfort zone (like Nothing to See Here) but rarely disappoint! The Girl With The Louding Voice is definitely one of my top books of 2020 and if you haven’t read it already, you need to!

Raise your hand if you are feeling overwhelmed by the mental load we are carrying right now, particularly as women? 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏾♀️🙋🏼♀️
Did you know that unpaid labor and caregiving is one of the biggest (and also mostly invisible) barriers to women in the workforce? While it may have taken a pandemic to highlight this, this isn’t a new issue and it is one that needs to be addressed. This article by Jessica Grose is spot on and dives into how this pandemic is forcing moms out of work at great financial, societal, and marital costs.

So let’s talk about it!!
Working from home colliding with homeschooling has become a new norm. Join New York Times bestselling author of Fair Play, Eve Rodsky as she illuminates the need to re-establish our values and provides tools to clearly define roles and expectations to divvy up the workload fairly and communicate with grace and generosity.
We will be gathering questions beforehand so we can best utilize our time with Eve, so please send any you might have to Susanna at susanna@charlottepubliclibrary.org who has organized this highly anticipated event.
While this event is open to everyone, registration is required for this Zoom event. Here is the Zoom sign up link…
{PS registering for this event also gets you your very own Fair Play card deck!}
*If you live locally, Charlotte Library has multiple copies of Fair Play available to borrow from our book club discussion last winter!
October reading for me has been a mix of engrossing fiction, face-paced thrillers/mysteries, or super relevant non-fiction…and all of these titles fall into those genres.
Are any of these titles on your own reading list?
If you have been waiting for the lowest price ever on a Kindle, today is your day! I have the Kindle Paperwhite and saying it has been a reading game changer will be an understatement. One of my favorite parts of reading on my kindle is being able to look up word definitions with a touch of the screen. I didn’t realize how much I used this until my last book was a hard copy edition, LOL. I love having access to hundreds of books no matter when or where I am reading and is it very user friendly!
Our older son reads a lot on his Kindle as well. He is way into graphic novels which are quick reads, so utilizing the Libby App through his library membership has been amazing and also FREE! You can read more about the Libby app in my blog post HERE.
In addition to the Kindle Paperwhite, there are deals on other Kindles as well…
Both of our boys have the Kindle Fire Kids Edition which we one hundred percent got for the 2-year warranty, LOL. So far we haven’t needed to use it, because the flexible case makes them super sturdy, but it is nice to have!
While we initially purchased them for our planned (then canceled) 2020 travel plans, they have been amazing for keeping them connected with their friends (near and far) through Messenger Kids during the last seven months… I don’t know what we would have done without them, honestly!
