Week of 4.13.21 New Book Releases! 📚⁣⁣{Thank you to the tagged publishers for my #gifted copies ✨}⁣⁣This post is going to be short and sweet because my social media time is going to be a bit more limited this week - but I didn't want to miss my chance to highlight some of the amazing #newbooks that were published this week! 🙌⁣⁣I had to head out of town rather unexpectedly yesterday and so some of my reviews for these books will be shared next week and some of these I have already shared in my recent posts. Either way, all of these books were amazing reads and if you are looking for a new book, you can't go wrong with any of these! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣⁣I have read and loved all of these except #WhatComesAfter, which I started on audio yesterday (thank you @librofm 👏) and already know is going to be an amazing one. 🎧⁣⁣Are any of these on your list? I would love to hear your thoughts! 💛💭⁣ ...

Are you a hugger or more of a waver?! 🤗 👋⁣⁣{Thank you to @putnambooks for my gifted copy and my friend Danielle this beautiful #handmadecard!}⁣⁣I would say, in general, I am a selective hugger, LOL. 😅 I have become more of a hugger as I have gotten older, but I prefer the spontaneous ones. 💓⁣⁣There seems to be a divide lately, the people who are itching to get back out and about - and those who have found more restricted nature of this pandemic, both with social interaction and staying home, quite nice! 💃🏻🏡 ⁣⁣While the last year presented many challenges and so much loss, staying home was not one of them for me...👀⁣⁣I am a homebody by nature and while I have missed my friends...being able to socialize on the phone and now via being outside and going on walks has really filled that social bucket for the most part. I do look forward to being able to go inside people's houses again though...and our library! 🙌⁣⁣So Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle intrigued me as soon as a read the book summary..."Maybell Parish has always been a dreamer and a hopeless romantic. But living in her own world has long been preferable to dealing with the disappointments of real life. So when Maybell inherits a charming house in the Smokies from her Great-Aunt Violet, she seizes the opportunity to make a fresh start."⁣⁣The twists and complexities of the story that unfold early on are so unique (and almost comical at times!) that I found myself marveling at how the author pulled it all together. It was surely one of the most creative contemporary romance books I have read! I also appreciated how she tied in characters that experience social anxiety and thought this representation was very well done. 👏⁣⁣This all being said, this book fell a little short for me. I found the back and forth between reality and the main characters' "dreams" to be a little hard to follow and the overall story to be a little bit too predictable. But I did love that it involved such an important (and timely issue) and the hwo perfect is this cover? 👍⁣⁣Have you read this one? I would love to hear your thoughts! 💕 ...

Have you read this one? I would love to hear your thoughts! 💕
When one of your favorite books ever, comes out in When one of your favorite books ever, comes out in paperback, you buy a copy ASAP! And how beautiful is this book cover? 🥳 Have you read #TheMostFunWeEverHad too?! ⁣
⁣
I read this one back in 2019 and it still makes me smile and feel all nostalgic when I think about it. 💭💕⁣
⁣
⁣Author Claire Lombardo pulled me right into the lives of the members of the Sorrenson family and I had a hard time putting this one down. The writing was both captivating and completely absorbing. ⁣
⁣
I ended up going back and forth between both reading the hard copy and listening to this on #audiobook. This made it an absolutely amazing and engrossing reading experience and was perfect for this style of writing. 📖 🎧 ⁣
⁣
While there were a lot of well-developed characters and the narration jumps back and forth from the present (2016) to the past - I never felt confused or that it was hard to keep track of it all. This is all such a testament to Lombardo’s skilled writing ability. ✨⁣
⁣
The story was compelling and the characters were both raw and relatable. I loved that their relationships with each other and themselves showed the intricacies of both families and just being human. 🙌⁣
⁣
The nuanced history and complexities of relationships that have spanned decades were presented in such a completely compelling manner. There were humorous parts and so many memorable quotes that I will never forget. 💫⁣
⁣
When I wasn’t reading or listening to this book I was thinking about it. It was difficult to leave this fictional family at the end of my reading journey, which for me, makes this truly a remarkable read. I highly recommend this debut(!!) novel and I can’t wait to read what Lombardo shares next. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣
⁣
QOTD: Do you have a favorite book? I would love to hear what it is! 💬
When you have a bad day or a bad week...💓🌱⁣
⁣
One of the most helpful things I have learned when dealing with sadness or worries is letting myself really feel them. Stuffing things inside or falling into that "good vibes only!" mantra can actually be really unhelpful, and even quite harmful. ⁣
⁣
We can have parts of our lives that are wonderful and parts that are painful, and both can exist at the very same time. Some things in life are just hard...period. And feeling stuck in them, is to me, the worst feeling of all. ⁣
⁣
All of these books are ones that still stick with me when times get harder. Written with compassion, they talk about how hard times can also give us information about ourselves when we stop fighting to "get out" and allow ourselves to learn as we work our way through them. ⁣
⁣
While we will never be able to control life or the people around us (wishful thinking right?) we do have the power to choose how we react. Emotions are a useful tool when we hold them, reflect on them, and then ultimately let them propel us ahead. If you haven't picked up any of these titles yet, I highly recommend them.⁣
⁣
✨QOTD: What are some simple self-care rituals you like to do when you are having a harder day? ⁣
⁣
In addition to talking with family/friends(and professionals 🙏) who get it, I love tuning out the world with an audiobook or podcast and doing mindless tasks around our house like watering our plants. 🪴🎧
