A New Home Office Space for 2022! // Furniture ODK Small Desk Review

{Thank you to ODK Furniture for partnering with me for this post and gifting me this desk. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.}

I have big news! 🎉 After almost four years, #GenTheBookworm has officially moved from our dining room table to a place of it’s very own…a desk next to the dining room table! 💃🏻⁣

I was super excited when @furniture_odk contacted me about their new small desk, which is touted for being perfect for utilizing small spaces. 🙌⁣

⁣I like my workspace to be where the action is, and this desk fits right in while also giving me a space to contain the book blogging chaos. And how great is this lower shelf for all my books just waiting to be discussed?! Don’t youWish You Were Here?! 💁🏻‍♀️😅📚⁣

I was totally tempted by all of the different color choices (there are quite a few to choose from!) but ultimately decided to go the more traditional route with the rustic/ deep brown, which fits so well in our home.

It is super sturdy thanks to the R-shaped steel frame, and the perfect height for working on my computer or taking handwritten notes. And, it’s under $100! You can check it all out HERE.👏⁣

⁣It’s been pretty amazing to have a spot that is just for book-worming activities, and we can actually utilize our dining room table again. Fun fact, our younger son calls our dining room table “the birthday table” because that is how much we actually use it for dining purposes, LOL. 😂🤔⁣

If you are like me and are looking for a contained home workspace to call your own, head over to @furniture_odk and check out all the amazing things they have to offer! 💞⁣

VOTE! {November 3rd, 2020}

voting day

“Vote like the future depends on it. It does.”

What is your voting plan today? I will be dropping off our ballots with our kids, who have the day off from school for election day. We have had many important and necessary conversations in 2020 and this election has been a huge part of it.

Raising kids is hard. We have two boys which means it can be loud, things get broken a lot and as they are getting older my role often feels more like a referee…who buys and prepares a lot of food.

They are also kind, full of emotions, and are learning to be aware of the world around them. We have many privileges and it is very important to both my husband and me that we are raising good humans. Today we are voting because we can and also because our vote can help make our country a better place for everyone, and that is the most important part of it all.

I have hope today. The last four years have been horrible in many ways but it also awakened a whole population of people who can stand up for what is right, myself included. You don’t have to experience them yourself to stand up for the injustices that are happening all around us. Our vote matters.

“Voting isn’t marriage, it’s public transport. You’re not waiting for “the one” who’s absolutely perfect: you’re getting the bus, and if there isn’t one to your destination, you don’t not travel- you take the one going closest.”

ONE: Fall Shifts…& Our First Day of School!

VermontWe have done a lot of swapping kids with our “quarantine crew” since the end of August which meant there was A LOT of boy energy around here…even the dogs were wild! Although the end of summer is bittersweet, everyone is definitely ready for a change of pace.

Life Lately…{September 1st, 2020}

Gen The Bookworm blogGood morning and a big shout out to all the parents who have made it to September! We may be smiling but are also crying on the inside, LOL.2020-09-01_0007We like to hide inside our L.L.Bean sweatshirts when we get nervous, which has been quite frequent lately. These striped sweatshirts were basically our quarantine uniforms March-June and these fall temps has us pulling them back out once again! While I have no affiliation with L.L.Bean, I would be happy to be their spokesperson if they are looking…

This summer has been a rollercoaster of emotions and while we have had many highs we also have had just as many lows. There have been plans that have had to be changed and many pivots in our daily family and work lives. We normally would have started school by now but this year we are starting after Labor Day which means we got a couple of extra weeks of summer.
