⁣If I have been reminded of anything over and over again during the last four years, it is this. “It shouldn't have to happen to you for it to matter to you” {via @ohhappydani} 🙌✨⁣⁣During Trump's presidency, I have personally learned that tolerance is a form of distancing ourselves from injustices. And that inaction can be just as harmful as those who are perpetuating inequities. ⁣⁣That peace doesn't just come from just love but also from getting mad. That standing up for what is wrong, and fighting together for a better future for all of us is not only important but necessary. ⁣⁣I wasn't marching in the streets four years ago like many of my friends and neighbors and I wish I had been. I have learned that being uncomfortable and staying in that feeling anyway is what ultimately pushes you forward. I will no longer tolerate inaction from myself and I hope you will join me. 💓⁣⁣While there is much work to be done, there is also so much hope. Here's to a new day in America. Happy Inauguration Day President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris! 💙🇺🇸 ...

✨My Favorite Books of 2020!✨⁣⁣Did 2020 end up being a much better reading year than you initially anticipated? While my reading was definitely all over the place during 2020, I did end up having a pretty solid year of reading. 📚💓⁣⁣I have had this stack of books on our dining room table (otherwise know as my book reviewing office, much to my family's disappointment LOL) for a couple of weeks now, and I finally decided it was time to clean up a bit. 😏😅⁣⁣For this specific list, I wanted to include my favorite books from 2020 that were also published in 2020. I do tend to primarily read new releases(I have NO reading chill) even though my backlist TBR list is miles long. I take more exceptions with this with highly recommended non-fiction reads so I'm Still Here by Austin Channing Brown (a 2018 publication) also made this list. 👏⁣⁣I cut myself off at 12 books (I liked the feeling of one for each of the months of the year...) but I had so many 5-star reads it was quite the process to narrow it down. 📖⁣⁣ When I rate books, a 5-star rating means that not only did I love them and highly recommend them but I also could not stop thinking about them long after finishing them. These books all stuck with me long after reading them and were also ones I recommended over and over again. 🙌⁣⁣In no specific order, here are my favorite books I read in 2020! 🥳⁣⁣{For those of you that enjoy all the details, I do plan on putting together a full post on genthebookworm.com ASAP, but for the sake of time (and the kids not being late for school🤞)here they are!}⁣⁣I'm Still Here by Austin Channing Brown⁣Untamed by Glennon Doyle⁣The Book of Moods by Lauren Martin⁣In Five Years by Rebecca Serle⁣Truths I Never Told You by Kelly Rimmer⁣the Night Swim by Megan Goldin⁣The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett⁣The Authenticity Project by Claire Pooley⁣Good Morning, Monster by Catherine Gildiner⁣The Girl With The Louding Voice by Abi Dare⁣Long Bright River by Liz Moore⁣Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan⁣⁣Did any of these books make your list? Are any of these books surprising to you? I would love to hear! 💜⁣ ...

Who else has been eagerly awaiting the release of Finlay Donovan Is Killing It?! 🤩👏⁣⁣This one is publishing on February 2nd and the buzz has had me been counting down the days! ⁣⁣I was super excited when this ARC arrived in the mail yesterday (thank you @minotaur_books 💓) and I can’t wait to dive in and see what all the hype is about. A fiction novel about a mom who gets tangled up in a murder investigation?! Sign me up! 🕵️‍♀️⁣⁣Here's the synopsis:⁣⁣"Finlay Donovan is killing it . . . except, she’s really not. She’s a stressed-out single-mom of two and struggling novelist, Finlay’s life is in chaos: the new book she promised her literary agent isn’t written, her ex-husband fired the nanny without telling her, and this morning she had to send her four-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head after an incident with scissors.⁣⁣When Finlay is overheard discussing the plot of her new suspense novel with her agent over lunch, she’s mistaken for a contract killer, and inadvertently accepts an offer to dispose of a problem husband in order to make ends meet . . . Soon, Finlay discovers that crime in real life is a lot more difficult than its fictional counterpart, as she becomes tangled in a real-life murder investigation.⁣⁣Fast-paced, deliciously witty, and wholeheartedly authentic in depicting the frustrations and triumphs of motherhood in all its messiness, hilarity, and heartfelt moments, Finlay Donovan Is Killing It is the first in a brilliant new series from award-winning author @ellecosimano."⁣⁣Is this on your reading list too? Have you already read an ARC? I would love to hear! 🥳⁣ ...

If I have been reminded of anything over and over again during the last four years, it is this. “It shouldn't have to happen to you for it to matter to you” {via @ohhappydani} 🙌✨⁣
⁣
During Trump's presidency, I have personally learned that tolerance is a form of distancing ourselves from injustices. And that inaction can be just as harmful as those who are perpetuating inequities. ⁣
⁣
That peace doesn't just come from just love but also from getting mad. That standing up for what is wrong, and fighting together for a better future for all of us is not only important but necessary. ⁣
⁣
I wasn't marching in the streets four years ago like many of my friends and neighbors and I wish I had been. I have learned that being uncomfortable and staying in that feeling anyway is what ultimately pushes you forward. I will no longer tolerate inaction from myself and I hope you will join me. 💓⁣
⁣
While there is much work to be done, there is also so much hope. Here's to a new day in America. Happy Inauguration Day President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris! 💙🇺🇸
Who else is excited that there is only one day unt Who else is excited that there is only one day until Inauguration Day?! 🥳💙⁣
⁣
This morning I present to you, some random coffee talk...⁣
⁣
I took a little posting hiatus the last couple of days because the back end of this place needed some work. I love chatting on here but I made myself catch up on some necessary book reviews that ultimately is what keeps this all going, LOL. 🧐⁣
⁣
Yesterday our kids indulged in way too much technology in the morning and then we met a few of their friends for sledding and xc skiing in the afternoon. This allowed me to get stuff done here in (semi) peace and then feel less guilty when we got some fresh air later on. It all about the parenting balance! 📺🎿🛷⁣
⁣
Speaking of catching up here, I was talking to my friend yesterday about starting a #bookstagram page. She was asking about how I got started sharing, and I think like many people, my main reason was that I was a separate palace to share about books that would also allow me to stop annoying all my friends on my regular IG page with the constant book chatter. Anyone else? 😂📚⁣
⁣
We also talked about making it a routine and trying to find a time of the day when you know it is going to happen. I know some of my friends write their IG posts ahead of time but I haven't become that organized yet, and I like the organic part of writing whatever is on my mind at 6am, LOL. 👩🏻‍💻⁣
⁣
But I am a morning poster, and if I don't post before our day gets started, the chances of it happening, later on, is slim to none. Do you have a routine about this too? 🗓⁣
⁣
And my best tip for sharing online? Not overthinking it. It has taken me many many years to realize that not everyone is going to like or agree with what I share here, or anywhere for that matter.  👏⁣
⁣
I am a people pleaser by nature but I also feel very passionate about the things that are important to me. 🙌⁣
⁣
Okay, I will be back later with some thoughts on a book that took me some time to get into but am SO happy I stuck with it! And I will be announcing the giveaway winner! 🥰⁣
⁣
For now, I have included some random photos from our wintery weekend. ❄️Happy Tuesday morning everyone! 💓
